How to make a dull picture
spring to life
J
ust recently, I’ve been in
email contact with
a number of readers who
are either experimenting
with film or returning to it.
But, like me, they are using
digital as well. Currently, I am
shooting film with my Lomo
LC-Wide, pinhole and straight
shooting with my Canon DSLR,
using a little DP2 borrowed
from Roderick Field and using
my iPhone when nothing else
is around. Interestingly, I’m
finding that they each teach me
something that I then carry over
to the others. Since shooting
film again, I find I am more
discerning when using my
DSLR – less of the ‘oh well, I can
always delete it’ approach. Using
the DP2 and my phone means
I am rarely without a camera
so I tend to be more aware of
potential pictures, even on a
trip to the supermarket. And
the digital pinhole pictures have
taught me to love my tripod!
But, more importantly, it
appears that
B+W
’s appea l has
reached the feline world. Thank
